How to Build a Sunroom

from: SelfHomeImprovement.com

Adding a sunroom to the home is a great way to add the needed room while being able to enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoors. The sunroom adds value to the home while providing the additional space many people need in their home. It will be a room everyone in the family will enjoy so the room will serve many purposes.

Deciding on the size and the location to install the sunroom can be either fun or complicated for many people. The best solution to this issue is to install the room where there is enough room in the yard and where the sunroom can have the best sunlight exposure. Wherever the room is added, it will be an enjoyable place for the entire family if it is constructed properly.

There are kits available at the local home improvement stores to make adding a sunroom to the home if a person wants to do the installation. If they feel it would be too much to do, they can hire a contractor for the addition. Either way, they can add the sunroom for low cost depending on the amount of extras they want to add to the room. There are many variables to be added to the sunroom that will make it more expensive such as rolling blinds within the windows of the sunroom, or tinted windows. Both are nice to have for the windows so it is best to know how much money is available for the addition of the sunroom.

Here are steps needed to add the sunroom to the home. The first step is to decide where the sunroom will be located. As mentioned before, the room should have exposure to the sun the majority of the time. The second step is to know how much money is available for the costs to build the sunroom. This will allow you to know the exact size of the room to be added to the home.

The next step is to decide on the style of the room. Determine if the sunroom will be mainly windows or if there will be a partial or solid wall within the sunroom. The more windows in the sunroom the higher the costs are since the windows will need to be energy efficient windows, which cost more. Yet it is the only type of window to use since you want to save money by using energy efficient windows.

The next step is find either a kit or a contractor for the project. If you decide to use a sunroom kit then locate one built with high quality to make the investment last longer. If using a contractor, then discuss the possible designs with them. The contractor will take the time to get all of the required building permits, which will save you time and headaches.

Arrange for financing for the sunroom if you do not have the money saved for the project. There are home improvement loans that will cover the costs of the sunroom. There is also the possibility of using the current equity in the home for the loan.

Arrange for the sunroom to be installed. This will include making the necessary arrangements for removing any old landscaping or other materials in the area the sunroom will be installed. Once you have made all the necessary arrangements, sit back and watch as the beautiful creation is added to your home.
